1,517 road traffic accidents reported to Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi last month

RAWALPINDI, Nov 04 (APP):A total of 1,517 road traffic accidents were reported to Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi during October, resulting in the deaths of 15 people, according to an official report issued by the department.
Among the injured, 742 people sustained serious injuries, while 925 suffered minor injuries. Out of the 1,681 total victims, 1,438 were men and 243 were women. The majority of those affected were between 11 and 40 years of age.
A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 said the emergency service provided timely medical assistance to all the victims and maintained its average response time, ensuring prompt arrival at accident sites.
Most of the accidents involved cars and motorcycles, the spokesperson added. The primary causes identified were speeding, negligence while driving, wrong turns, tire bursts, and other avoidable factors.
The Rescue Department reaffirmed its commitment to reducing road accidents across the district and stressed that strict adherence to traffic regulations is essential to ensure road safety and protect lives.
In addition, 97 fire incidents were reported to Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi during the month of October.
Rescue teams responded promptly to all reported fire emergencies and carried out timely relief operations. According to Rescue 1122, one individual sustained minor injuries in these incidents.
The department added that professional firefighting efforts by Rescue 1122 personnel helped bring all blazes under control efficiently, preventing major losses.
The main causes of the fire incidents included short circuits, negligence while smoking, gas leakages, and other related factors, Rescue 1122 officials said.
They emphasized that public awareness and precautionary measures are essential to prevent such incidents and ensure community safety.
