MULTAN, Nov 04 (APP):In the wake of the rising threat of dengue, a high-level meeting was held at Nishtar Hospital, where officials discussed the health facility’s preparedness and preventive measures to tackle the increasing number of dengue cases here on Tuesday.
The meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Nishtar Medical University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mehnaz Khakwani and Medical Superintendent Nishtar Hospital, Dr. Rao Amjad Ali Khan.
During the briefing, it was decided to increase the number of beds in the dedicated dengue ward from 22 to 40, while the availability of mosquito nets will be doubled from 40 to 80 to ensure adequate patient safety.
Prof. Dr. Mehnaz Khakwani directed that dengue spray operations be conducted across the university premises, hostels, and surrounding areas. She emphasized that mosquito nets and other preventive supplies should be readily available in sufficient quantities. She also instructed that medical and laboratory services, including ELISA and PCR kits, remain available round the clock so that there is no delay in testing, diagnosis, or treatment of dengue patients.
Dr. Khakwani further stressed that doctors and support staff must remain on duty 24 hours in the dengue ward to ensure timely care for all patients.
The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Asghar Javed, Prof. Dr. Arif Bhatti, Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan, and Dr. Rawad Noor. Following the meeting, anti-dengue spray and larva control operations were carried out across various departments of the hospital, hostels, and adjacent areas as part of the ongoing dengue prevention campaign.
