MULTAN, Nov 04 (APP): Anti-dengue teams have been actively engaged in field operations, eliminating larvae from nearly 4,000 locations across Multan, while another 2,000 hotspots are also being targeted with expectations of achieving 100% results.
This was stated by health department officials during a meeting of the District Health Authority (DHA), which reviewed ongoing anti-dengue operations. The meeting was chaired by Special Secretary Health and Population for South Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Hussain.
Shahbaz mentioned that the Punjab Secretary for Health and Population, Nadia Saqib, is closely monitoring anti-dengue activities across the province.
The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Shahid Abbas Joiya, Deputy Secretary Technical Muhammad Hassan, CEO Health Multan, and other senior officials.
DHA officials reported that a total of 92 confirmed dengue cases have been recorded in Multan so far this year. Approximately 352 field teams are currently engaged in anti-dengue operations across the district. A total of 2,195 hotspots have been identified, with efforts underway to cover all of them, aiming for complete eradication. So far, teams have neutralized dengue larvae from 3,989 sites during targeted operations.
Special Secretary Muhammad Shahbaz Hussain emphasized the need to intensify both indoor and outdoor surveillance, as well as larvae-killing measures, to ensure complete dengue eradication. He instructed that all relevant departments and stakeholders must work together for a coordinated response to combat the disease.
Shahbaz also stressed that there should be no compromise on dengue control SOPs and highlighted the importance of a robust public awareness campaign to educate citizens about preventive measures.
The meeting concluded with directives to maintain strict monitoring, ensure timely reporting, and strengthen coordination between district authorities and field teams for sustained dengue prevention efforts.
