MULTAN, Nov 04 (APP):The divisional administration has launched a significant welfare initiative to support laborers and daily wage earners in the city.
Under the public-private partnership program titled “Mann-o-Salwa,” free and hygienic meals will be provided to the underprivileged, marking an important step toward reducing hunger and minimizing food wastage.
Commissioner Multan Division Aamir Kareem Khan inaugurated the project at the Industrial Estate on Tuesday, where large-capacity freezers have been installed to store and distribute surplus food to those in need.
The initiative was made possible with the special cooperation of senior members of the business community, including Asif Majeed, Bakhtawar Tanveer Sheikh, Dr. Shafiq Khan Pitafi, Colonel (R) Muhammad Hashim, Altaf Shahid, and Saleem Akhtar Siddiqui.
Speaking at the launch, the Commissioner explained that the project allows citizens to place their clean leftover food in the Mann-o-Salwa freezers, enabling laborers to conveniently collect meals near their workplaces. He added that each freezer is equipped with electricity and security arrangements to ensure safety, hygiene, and accessibility.
The Commissioner noted that this initiative will help ease the financial burden on struggling families, while also allowing donors and philanthropists to contribute freshly prepared meals. He shared that plans were underway to expand the project to 20 to 25 locations across the city, benefiting hundreds of families every day.
Kareem Khan emphasized that Mann-o-Salwa will not only provide dignity to those in need but will also help reduce food wastage, discourage begging, and contribute to reducing petty crimes.
He praised the increasing involvement of the business community and announced that additional collection points and freezers would soon be installed in residential and industrial areas.
Describing the initiative as a model of sustainable compassion, the Commissioner said that Mann-o-Salwa was a shining example of how communities can come together to fight hunger and uphold human dignity.
