ISLAMABAD, Nov 04 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday directed authorities for effective measures to eradicate drugs in federal educational institutions and also instructed PEMRA to conduct an awareness campaign during prime time.
The court remarked that the awareness campaign should be broadcast during prime time, as there is no benefit in conducting an awareness campaign late night.
Justice Raja Inaam Ameen Minhas heard the case related to eradication of drugs from federal educational institutions. Lawyer petitioner Kashif Ali Malik appeared in the court.
The court ordered that the IG Islamabad, ANF, Private School Regulatory Body and other stakeholders should work together to develop an effective mechanism for eradication of drugs.
The report submitted by Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) stated that in case of recovery of drugs in educational institutions, action will be taken against the concerned head, while a complete ban has been imposed on the entry of delivery boys and courier services.
According to the report, in 2025, 51 cases of drugs were registered by the ANF and 22 cases by the police from educational institutions in Islamabad.
The court directed the IG to prepare a comprehensive strategy after consulting all the institutions and adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.
