MANSEHRA, Nov 04 (APP):The Department of Botany at Hazara University Mansehra organized a day long seminar titled “National Seminar on Botany and Agri-Entrepreneurship: Transforming Green Skills into Climate-Resilient Sustainable Ventures.”
The seminar aimed to provide a platform for experts, researchers, students, and industrial representatives to promote environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural projects through research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Rahmatullah Qureshi, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, highlighted the industrial, medicinal, and economic potential of hemp and other valuable botanical resources in Pakistan. He praised Hazara University’s efforts in encouraging innovation in biological resources and fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
Representatives from various industrial organizations, including Petal Seeds (Mardan) and Akora Seeds, emphasized the role of modern technology in agriculture, the need to enhance agricultural productivity, and the importance of long-term academic and industrial cooperation.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ikramullah Khan lauded Dr. Alia Gul and her team for successfully organizing the seminar in a short time. He appreciated their contributions toward joint research initiatives, quality enhancement, and innovation promotion, stressing the significance of sustainable botanical research and academic collaboration.
Chief organizer and Associate Professor Dr. Alia Gul said that transforming botanical knowledge into practical projects such as the production of herbal products, tissue culture propagation, biofertilizer manufacturing, and eco-friendly packaging could significantly contribute to environmental conservation and economic development. She added that the seminar aimed to inspire students to think beyond traditional research and work on biodiversity promotion, rural economy strengthening, and sustainable development.
