FAISALABAD, Nov 04 (APP): South Africa handed international debuts to three players—Sinethemba Qeshile, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, and Donovan Ferreira—in the opening One-Day International (ODI) of their three-match series against Pakistan at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
According to officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board, the South African team opted to test its bench strength by including these debutants in the first ODI.
Sinethemba Qeshile replaced Dewald Brevis, who was ruled out due to injury.
This inclusion of fresh talent is part of South Africa’s strategy to build squad depth while giving young players the chance to showcase their skills at the international level.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first in the series opener.
The match is taking place at Faisalabad’s historic Iqbal Stadium, where cricket fans have shown strong enthusiasm.
The remaining two ODIs of the Pakistan-South Africa series are scheduled for November 6 and 8, 2025.
