Steering committee regarding October National Immunization Days (NIDs) held

ASTORE, Nov 04 (APP):Under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, Abrar Ahmed Mirza, an important meeting of the Steering Committee regarding the October National Immunization Days (NIDs) was held at the Chief Secretary’s Office, Gilgit.
Senior officials from the Departments of Health, Home, Education, and Information, as well as all Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, the Director of EPI, and representatives of other relevant departments attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail the performance, arrangements, and follow-up measures related to the immunization campaign conducted across Gilgit-Baltistan during the October NID. Officials briefed the participants on the progress and outcomes of the campaign.
The Chief Secretary stated that a polio-free Gilgit-Baltistan is our national commitment, and the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan is utilizing all available resources to eradicate polio. He directed all district administrations, the Health Department, and partner organizations to ensure that no child remains deprived of immunization.
Expressing strong displeasure over the negligence and slow performance of certain polio teams, the Chief Secretary instructed that strict action be taken against the responsible staff, and those found negligent be given the severest punishment. He emphasized that no form of negligence will be tolerated in this regard.
The Chief Secretary further directed the Commissioner Gilgit to submit a detailed report on the teams responsible for negligence and slow performance.
Briefing the meeting, the Director of Health Department informed that the next polio campaign will be conducted from November 17 to 22, 2025, while the next National Immunization Days campaign will be launched in December.
Concluding the meeting, the Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan directed all departments to further improve public awareness and field performance in the upcoming campaign.
