ISLAMABAD, Nov 4 (APP): Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday described education as the driving force behind national development, stating that this force is now more dynamic and robust than ever before.
Addressing the closing session of Rethinking Education on the 50th anniversary of Beaconhouse School System, he said, “What began in 1975 with just 19 students has now grown into a network of around 397,000 students across six countries.
He termed it an inspiring story of Pakistan’s educational and developmental excellence.
He paid rich tribute to Mrs. Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri, the Founder and Chairperson of Beaconhouse, for her visionary leadership and transformative contribution to Pakistan’s education landscape.
He said she not only revolutionized the education system but also paved the way for women to take leading roles in education and social development.
Highlighting the SOT theme “Rethinking Education,” the Chairman said it was highly relevant in today’s rapidly changing, technology-driven world.
He said artificial intelligence, digital learning, and global transformations have redefined educational goals, making education not just a path to employment but a means to create meaningful global change.
Gilani termed Beaconhouse’s integration of innovation, digital tools, project-based learning, and early entrepreneurship as a guarantee of Pakistan’s brighter future.
He lauded initiatives like the Spark Tank incubator, Google-referenced school status, and the institution’s commitment to inclusive education for children with special needs.
He also praised projects such as Beaconhouse National University, Concordia Colleges, Homebridge, and The Educators for providing quality learning opportunities to millions of families nationwide.
The Mahmud Ali Kasuri Welfare Trust and Lighthouse Orphanage, he noted, exemplify that education is not merely about knowledge, but also about character building, equality, and social responsibility.
Calling teachers the nation’s true builders, Gilani appreciated their services and urged students to continue their quest for knowledge and keep asking questions.
He said parents’ trust in education remains Pakistan’s strongest investment in the future.
The Chairman emphasized that education is every child’s fundamental right, vital for national development, democratic stability, and a secure future.
He stressed the need to focus on scientific, technical, and creative education, ensuring quality learning for children in every part of the country.
Recalling the historic words of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Gilani said that “without education, a nation wanders in darkness, while education guarantees light and survival.”
Commending Beaconhouse’s Vision 2050 as a beacon of hope and progress, Gilani said that when the private sector works with a spirit of service and social responsibility, it becomes a key partner in national development.
Concluding his address, he congratulated Beaconhouse on its Golden Jubilee, praying that the next fifty years bring continued innovation, excellence, and equality in education.
