ISLAMABAD, Nov 03 (APP): Archbishop Germano Penemote, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See to Pakistan, met with Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, in Islamabad to review key government efforts supporting religious minorities.
The discussion focused on a wide range of initiatives aimed at ensuring the protection, inclusion, and advancement of religious minorities across the country. These included:
Improved security and restoration of places of worship, strengthened mechanisms to promote equality and safeguard minority rights, provision of educational scholarships and financial support to underprivileged minority families Minister of State for Law & Justice, Barrister Aqeel Malik, was also present during the meeting.
Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar expressed the government’s deep appreciation for the longstanding and invaluable contributions of the Christian community to Pakistan, particularly in the fields of education, health, and social welfare.
He noted that Christian missionary schools, colleges, and hospitals have played a pivotal role in educating and uplifting generations of Pakistanis, underscoring the community’s enduring commitment to nation-building and public service.
Archbishop Germano Penemote conveyed his deep appreciation for the government’s consistent efforts and acknowledged their positive impact on minority communities. He further reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to promoting peace, social harmony, and interfaith dialogue in Pakistan.
