Rain, wind, thunderstorm predicted in Upper, Central KP on Nov 4

PESHAWAR, Nov 03 (APP):The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a weather alert to all Deputy Commissioners, warning of rain, wind, and thunderstorms with snowfall over mountainous areas in the upper and central regions of the province from November 4 to 5 morning.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is expected to enter the upper parts of the country on November 3 night and may persist until November 5, bringing widespread weather activity to several districts, including Dir Upper and Lower, Chitral Upper and Lower, Swat, Kohistan, Kolai Pallas, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Torghar, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Kurram, Orakzai, Hangu, Kohat, and Galliyat.
The PDMA has warned of isolated hailstorms and a significant drop in temperatures, especially in upper areas.
 Smog and fog conditions are expected to subside during the wet spell but may reappear afterward.
Citizens have been advised to take precautions, as windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning could cause damage to loose structures, electric poles, solar panels, and billboards.
All district administrations have been directed to remain alert and ensure precautionary and safety measures to prevent human losses and damage to infrastructure or livestock.
The PDMA has instructed local authorities to monitor rivers, streams, and nullahs, clear drainage systems, and coordinate with municipal bodies to mitigate risks of urban flooding and landslides.
Farmers and herders have been advised to protect crops and livestock from adverse weather, while travelers and tourists are urged to plan trips carefully, avoid hilly and flood-prone areas, and follow safety guidelines.
Emergency services and rescue teams have been asked to stay on high alert with equipment and supplies ready in vulnerable areas.
The PDMA emphasized a proactive approach by all departments, including diversion of traffic, provision of alternate routes, and timely communication of alerts.
The Provincial Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) will maintain round-the-clock monitoring of the situation, and the public can report emergencies or seek assistance via PDMA’s toll-free helpline 1700.
