LAHORE, Nov 03 (APP):A delegation of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) led by Deputy Representative Dr. Gulnara visited the Head Office of the Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) and held a meeting with Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt to discuss enhanced collaboration in women’s protection, rehabilitation, and empowerment across Punjab.
The meeting focused on strengthening institutional coordination, improving operational efficiency of Women Protection Centres (WPCs), and enhancing referral and case management systems through interdepartmental linkages to ensure comprehensive protection and support for women and girls. Both sides agreed to further expand cooperation to advance women’s rights and institutional service delivery mechanisms.
Dr. Gulnara lauded the women-centric initiatives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, describing them as a progressive model for other provinces. She appreciated the effective role of the PWPA under the leadership of Hina Parvez Butt in providing protection, justice, and psychosocial support to women in distress.
PWPA Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt expressed gratitude to UNFPA for its continued partnership and technical assistance, noting that the collaboration had significantly contributed to strengthening Women Protection Centres, helplines, and field-level service networks. She expressed the Authority’s commitment to CM Punjab’s vision of “Khawaateen Ke Liye Mehfooz Punjab” (A Safe Punjab for Women), emphasizing that every woman deserves a life of dignity, safety, and empowerment.
The meeting was attended by Director General PWPA Kalsoom Saqib, UNFPA Provincial Coordinator Tania Durrani, Programme Associate Momnah Asad, and District Women Protection Officers (DWPOs) from Lahore and Multan.
