LAHORE, Nov 03 (APP): Lahore continues to top the list of the most polluted cities in the world, with air quality levels reaching hazardous levels that pose significant health risks. The overall air pollution rate in the city has been recorded at a staggering 471, a clear indication of the deteriorating environmental conditions.
The pollution levels in several key areas of Lahore have reached alarming numbers. In the Civil Secretariat, the pollution rate was recorded at 804, while the CCRP office saw a rate of 758. Other areas such as Sanda Road (745), Gulberg G-3 (603), DHA Physical Zone (596), Ravi Road (591), and Shadman (585) also reported dangerously high pollution levels.
Experts have warned residents to take immediate precautionary measures, including limiting outdoor activities, wearing masks, and staying indoors when possible, especially in high-pollution areas.
The increasing pollution is expected to have wide-reaching impacts, particularly on public health and education. The looming question is how this air quality crisis will affect educational activities, with concerns rising over the potential need for schools and colleges to close, as has been done in previous years when pollution levels spiked.
As the city grapples with the rising smog, authorities face increasing pressure to devise and implement a long-term action plan to combat air pollution and protect citizens’ health.
