ABBOTTABAD, Nov 03 (APP):The long-awaited reconstruction of the Ayub Bridge in Havelian has finally materialized following its destruction during the recent heavy monsoon rains that severely damaged infrastructure across the region.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of former Federal Minister Murtaza Javed Abbasi and former MNA Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha, funds for the new bridge have been approved and all legal formalities completed. Their consistent follow-up and coordination with federal authorities played a vital role in moving the project forward.
On the other hand, the sitting MNA of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from the same constituency reportedly neither visited the damaged bridge nor took any steps to secure funds or a grant for its reconstruction. It was Murtaza Javed Abbasi who brought the matter to the attention of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and successfully obtained the project’s approval.
According to a tender notice published in newspapers on October 25, 2025, the National Highway Authority (NHA), under the Ministry of Communications, Government of Pakistan, has invited bids for the construction of a new Ayub Bridge at KM 56+000 on the N-35 under its North Zone.
The engineer’s estimate for the new Ayub Bridge project stands at Rs. 827.4 million, with a bid security of Rs. 16.5 million. The bidding process will follow a single-stage, two-envelope procedure, and bids must be submitted by November 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with technical bids opened the same day at 11:30 a.m.
Former Federal Minister Murtaza Javed Abbasi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan for their personal interest and swift action, which made the approval of funds possible within just two months.
He stated, “God willing, within the next ten months, the people of Havelian will receive the gift of a new and durable bridge that will greatly improve connectivity and contribute to the development of the area.”
Local residents and community leaders have congratulated Murtaza Javed Abbasi and Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha for their untiring efforts in ensuring the reconstruction of this crucial bridge, which serves as a lifeline for Havelian and its surrounding areas.
