SARGODHA, Nov 03 (APP):Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan chaired a meeting to review key development and administrative affairs in the city.
According to a spokesperson from the Commissioner’s office, the meeting focused on several important issues, including the removal of encroachments around a mosque in Block No. 1. The Commissioner directed the Municipal Corporation and relevant authorities to clear the encroachments, noting that if verandas around the mosque had previously existed but were encroached upon, they should be vacated in accordance with the Gol Chok Mosque model. He also instructed the review of all old maps and requested a report to be submitted on the matter.
During the meeting, Managing Director (MD) WASA, Muhammad Abu Bakkar, provided an update on the progress of the mega sewerage project, revealing that all construction work had been completed, and the project was set to become operational within the next 15 days. He further reported that the renovation of three disposal stations had been completed, while work on the Slanoali disposal station is still ongoing.
Commissioner Awan emphasized the need for continuous desilting across the city during the winter season and instructed WASA officials to conduct daily inspections of fieldwork.
The meeting also addressed the issue of street vendors and decided to relocate them to designated areas outside the city. The Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) informed the attendees that one electric bus stand had already been activated, with tenders for the remaining stands to be opened on November 5.
The progress of the ongoing anti-encroachment drives was reviewed, with a decision made to cancel the allotments of inactive stalls and offer the spaces to new vendors. Additionally, it was decided that the rickshaw stand at Qinchy Mor would be relocated to near Bab-e-Sargodha in an effort to improve traffic flow.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sargodha, Captain (R) Muhammad Waseem, PHA MD Muhammad Arshad, Director of Development Bilal Hassan, and other senior officers.
