ISLAMABAD, Nov 03 (APP):A key meeting under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) framework was held at Skardu International Airport on Monday to review plans for the expansion of the passenger terminal building and the establishment of an air cargo setup.
The session was chaired by Muhammad Faheem Yar Khan, Senior Additional Director APS, Osama Khan, Additional Director Planning and Development; and Shahid Imran, Chief Operating Officer/Airport Manager Skardu.
The meeting brought together senior officials and stakeholders from multiple sectors, including the Deputy Commissioner Skardu, Commander 62 Brigade, DIG Baltistan, Director Agriculture Baltistan, Base Commander PAF Base Qadri, Chairman Shangrila Resort, airline station managers, representatives of ground handling agencies, members of the Skardu Chamber of Commerce, and prominent local businessmen.
The primary objective was to gather recommendations from stakeholders regarding the proposed terminal expansion and cargo infrastructure to facilitate trade, enhance cargo flow, and strengthen regional connectivity.
Participants appreciated the Pakistan Airports Authority’s (PAA) initiatives to address the needs of the Baltistan region and assured full cooperation for future development projects.
