BEIJING, Nov 2 (APP): In the complex global geopolitical landscape, Pakistan has achieved the precise realization of its national development interests by constructing a multi-level and broad-coverage economic diplomacy strategy.

This strategic practice is not only based on its regional advantages but also takes global cooperation into account, making Pakistan a typical example for developing countries leveraging diplomacy to boost their economies.

These views were expressed by Prof. Cheng Xizhong, Senior Research Fellow at the Charhar Institute, a non-governmental Chinese think-tank on diplomacy and international studies based in Beijing

In a statement, he remarked that as the flagship project of Pakistan’s economic diplomacy strategy, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has established a strategic pillar for cooperation between China and Pakistan and become a core driving force for Pakistan’s economic recovery. Since its launch, the corridor has evolved from infrastructure construction to in-depth development featuring industrial upgrading and technology transfer, creating substantial employment opportunities and production capacity dividends.

Pakistan has built a dual guarantee system for energy security and capital introduction by deepening strategic cooperation with Middle Eastern countries. Its cooperation with Saudi Arabia can be regarded as a model of cross-regional economic diplomacy, he added.

Pakistan, Prof Cheng said, has skillfully leveraged multilateral diplomatic platforms, aligning its national interests with the common aspirations of the region to achieve a hierarchical leap in its economic influence.

Within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Pakistan has strengthened economic and trade connectivity with Central Asian countries by aligning with the regional cooperation agenda, opening up new channels for the export of its agricultural and mineral products. The expansion of cross-regional economic cooperation further demonstrates its strategic wisdom, he added.
