LAHORE, Nov 02 (APP): Under the visionary welfare agenda of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the “Dhee Rani Programme” has achieved a historic milestone by organizing 66 dignified collective marriage ceremonies across the province within just nine months, ensuring the honorable union of 4,857 underprivileged couples.
According to the Programme’s Focal Person and Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Sohail Shaukat Butt, the initiative has been implemented in three successful phases. During Phase I, 25 ceremonies were organized, followed by 23 in Phase II, while Phase III saw 18 ceremonies held during October alone, marking a record achievement in the programme’s outreach and efficiency.
Sharing district-wise details, the Minister said that Dera Ghazi Khan led with 204 marriages, while Bhakkar and Muzaffargarh each facilitated 200. Similarly, 169 collective marriages were organized in Jhang, 163 in Gujranwala, 149 in Okara, 169 in Lahore, 148 in Multan, and 139 in Khanewal, reflecting the programme’s wide geographical coverage and effective administrative execution.
Sohail Shaukat Butt added that the “Dhee Rani Programme” has received overwhelming public appreciation, especially in South Punjab, underscoring citizens’ confidence in Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s people-centric and inclusive governance. He added that under the direct supervision of the Punjab government, each deserving couple received a complete wedding package, including a gift card worth Rs 200,000, bridal attire, and full ceremony arrangements.
“This transformative initiative is a blessing for deserving families across Punjab. By placing a caring hand on the heads of our daughters, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has truly emerged as the guardian of every ‘Dhee Rani’ in the province,” the minister remarked.
