PESHAWAR, Nov 01 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has said that congenital heart diseases among children are a serious public health concern, emphasizing that no child should be deprived of life-saving treatment due to poverty or financial hardship.
He expressed these views while addressing a symposium on congenital heart diseases in children as the chief guest at Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) on Saturday.
The symposium was also addressed by RMI Chairman Professor Dr Muhammad Rehman, Dr Azam Jan Khan, Dr Shafiqur Rehman, Dr Tariq Sohail, and other leading cardiologists.
Governor Kundi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring early diagnosis and treatment through a combination of public and private efforts. He praised RMI as an institution of national pride and an example of excellence in healthcare.
Quoting medical statistics, the Governor said that approximately eight out of every 1,000 children in Pakistan are born with heart defects. “If the government, medical professionals, and private sector work together, no child suffering from heart disease will be denied their right to life,” he said.
Governor Kundi commended the organizers, medical experts, and participants of the symposium, lauding their dedication, research, and humanitarian spirit as the true essence of this noble cause.
