PESHAWAR, Oct 31 (APP): The Accountability Court on Friday rejected the bail plea of the main accused in the Upper Kohistan scandal, Gul Rahman, and ordered that he should remain in jail.
During the hearing, the National Bank Dasso Branch cashier, Gul Rahman, faced allegations of involvement in illegal transactions.
According to the NAB prosecutor, Gul Rahman, along with his brother Muhammad Nawaz and associate Muhammad Yahya, conducted unauthorized financial transactions and issued cheques without proper verification, transferring government funds into private accounts.
The prosecutor stated that accused Gul Rahman played a key role in the scam, facilitating transactions amounting
to Rs 361 million into specific accounts.
A day earlier, NAB conducted a raid in Abbottabad in connection with a corruption case involving more than Rs 36 billion allegedly misappropriated from government accounts.
During the operation, officials recovered Rs 200 million in cash hidden in paint-0cans at the residence of a female suspect, who is the wife of the main accused, Qaiser Iqbal.
The NAB had earlier arrested C&W Department employee Qaiser Iqbal and his wife from Abbottabad. Both are currently in NAB custody on physical remand.
