GOMEL,, Oct 31 (BelTA/APP): Gomel Oblast has increased merchandise shipments to Asian countries this year, including to China, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, and South Korea. Chairman of the Economy Committee of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Mikhail Akunets mentioned it during a session of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee held to discuss the region’s social and economic development in January-September 2025, BelTA has learned.
According to the committee’s chairman, Gomel Oblast’s merchandise export is estimated at $2.7 billion. “Export is on the rise in an overwhelming majority of commodities. Today we see an increase in dairy products, chemical fertilizers, carbon fibers, meat products, cellulose, goods made of plastic, fiberboards and sawn timber, paper, pasteboard, goods made of them, and a number of other products,” Mikhail Akunets recounted.
“As part of the redirection of commodity flows the oblast has increased deliveries by more than $50 million to Asian countries, including to China, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Korea. Slightly less was exported to Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Turkmenistan, and Pakistan,” the official noted.
Mikhail Akunets emphasized that the export of services demonstrates a steady growth tendency – over 26%. “An increase in export has been secured virtually for all kinds of services,” he stressed.
