Attack on Shahdara Police Station: ATC extends physical remand of 35 accused

LAHORE, Oct 30 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday extended physical remand of 35 members of a banned religious party, accused of attacking and setting fire to Shahdara Police Station, for another 10 days.
Investigation Officer Mirza Akhtar Ali produced the accused before ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill after completion of their 11-day physical remand. The officer informed the court that sticks and rods had been recovered from the suspects; however, their mobile phones were still missing. He requested an additional 20-day remand for further investigation and recovery of the devices.
After hearing the arguments, the court extended the physical remand of all 35 accused for another 10-day.
The suspects allegedly attacked Shahdara Police Station, fired upon police and rangers personnel, and injured at least 44 individuals during a recent protest. The violent mob also set ablaze several vehicles parked outside the police station and used sticks and rods during the assault.
A terrorism case has been registered against the accused at Shahdara Police Station. Those named in the case include Ghulam Mustafa, Haris Ali, Muhammad Hamza, Muhammad Ehsan, Azmat Ali, Muhammad Ijaz, Muhammad Asghar, Muhammad Shehzad, Muhammad Shehbaz, Muhammad Saleem, Jaber Rasool, and Asif Ali, among others.
