Commissioner stresses religious harmony, peace

FAISALABAD, Oct 30 (APP):Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has stressed the need of religious harmony and peace in the division and said that divisional administration is actively engaged in maintaining law and order and promoting communal harmony.
Chairing a meeting held with a delegation of local Ulema here on Thursday, he discussed the ongoing efforts for peace and interfaith unity in Faisalabad.
He lauded the vital role of religious scholars in transforming the division into a cradle of peace. He acknowledged constructive contributions of Ulema for unity and tolerance and said that unity, mutual respect and patience are foremost needs of the hour especially in promoting social stability and inter-sect harmony.
The collaborative efforts would continue to deepen sectarian and religious harmony throughout the division, he added.
Central Deputy Secretary General Pakistan Ulema Council Allama Tahir-ul-Hasan briefed the Divisional Commissioner about the initiatives being taken to strengthen peace and social cohesion within the community.
Among other religious figures who attended the meeting included Maulana Ubaidullah, Mufti Nasrullah Aziz, Mazhar Abbas, Maulana Izhar-ul-Haq Khalid, Sahibzada Hamza Tahir-ul-Hasan, Maulana Abu Bakar Siddique, Maulana Amir-ul-Haq and Dr. Tahir Qasmi.
