ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (APP): Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training and Head of Delegation from Pakistan, is attending the 43rd UNESCO General Conference being held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
She is accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry and Pakistan’s Permanent Delegation to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The Pakistani delegation is actively participating in sessions focused on global education policy, cultural preservation, scientific cooperation, and sustainable development. The conference brings together representatives from UNESCO’s 194 member states to discuss collective efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through education, innovation, and international collaboration, said a press release on Thursday.
Addressing the conference, Wajiha Qamar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to UNESCO’s mandate and highlighted the government’s ongoing reforms to strengthen equitable access to quality education, promote skill development, and preserve the country’s rich cultural heritage.
She also emphasized the importance of global partnerships in addressing shared challenges, including digital transformation in education, gender equality, and climate resilience.
The 43rd UNESCO General Conference provides an important platform for Pakistan to engage with international partners, exchange experiences, and contribute to shaping global education and cultural policies.
