SARGODHA, Oct 30 (APP):Sargodha Divisional Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan chaired a review meeting on Thursday to assess the progress of health initiatives and issued strict directives to health officials across the division for improved performance.
The meeting, attended by Director Health Dr Rana Muhammad Riaz and CEOs of Health Authorities, confirmed the recent anti-polio drive was highly successful, with all districts achieving their targets, and announced that the final polio phase for the year would take place in December.
However, the Commissioner expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of anti-dengue activities, ordering immediate, strict monitoring of field staff and reporting to accelerate the campaign. Furthermore, officials were briefed on the upcoming Measles and Rubella (MR) special vaccination drive, scheduled from November 17 to 29, which aims to vaccinate children aged six months to five years. Commissioner Jahanzaib Awan directed officials to immediately review and revise the MR campaign micro-plan on the pattern of the highly successful polio drive to ensure a 100 per cent target achievement.
Highlighting the need for public cooperation, District Health Officer (DHO) Shahzad Asif appealed to the community, stating, “The campaign to prevent Measles and Rubella would continue from November 17 to 29.
Parents should play their part in making this campaign successful and ensure their children receive the protective vaccination, as vaccination keeps children safe from Measles and Rubella.
The government’s vaccination campaign is commendable, and parents should play their full role.” In a critical directive concerning infection control, the Commissioner also ordered that special teams be formed to inspect all government and private dialysis units across the four districts within two days to ensure strict compliance with SOPs and effectively mitigate any risk of AIDS transmission.
The meeting also included a detailed review of the outsourcing of health facilities and the procurement and supply of essential medicines to hospitals.
