DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 27 (APP):The Gomal University on Monday observed Kashmir Black Day with a solemn and dignified solidarity walk to express unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The walk was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and attended by deans, faculty members, students, and heads of various departments.
The event was jointly organized by the Directorate of Students Affairs, Directorate of Sports, and the Department of Sports Sciences and Physical Education.
The participants carried Pakistan and Kashmir flags, placards, and banners inscribed with slogans supporting the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination.
Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal said that October 27, 1947, marks a dark day in history when India illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He condemned the ongoing human rights violations, including extrajudicial killings, the use of pellet guns, and atrocities committed against Kashmiri women, describing them as a “stain on the conscience of the international community.”
Referring to the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, he stated that India’s actions aimed to strip Kashmiris of their identity and special status, but the resilient Kashmiri people continue their struggle for freedom with unmatched courage and sacrifices.
Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal reaffirmed that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan, and the Pakistani nation stands shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brethren at every forum.
He urged the international community to play an effective role in ensuring the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir in accordance with UN resolutions.
The walk concluded with renewed pledges of solidarity with the Kashmiri people and calls on global institutions to take concrete action against India’s ongoing oppression and help resolve the Kashmir issue peacefully.
