MULTAN, Oct 26 (APP):Under the leadership of Managing Director Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt, Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal (PBM) has played a pivotal role in supporting flood-affected communities across the country. The organization’s outstanding humanitarian response earned high praise from the National Assembly Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection.
Director General Projects PBM, Dr. Zeeshan Danish, highlighted the organization’s remarkable contributions despite limited resources. The Committee commended PBM’s efforts, particularly noting initiatives such as the distribution of approximately 80,000 meal packs, the provision of 15 large vehicles for relief operations, rescue efforts for humans and animals, and the distribution of ration bags, medicine boxes, and 3,334 clothing sets. PBM also announced plans to distribute 200,000 kilograms of dates and animal feed to affected regions.
Notably, Director PBM South Punjab Rana Muhammad Ramadan Tahir led the distribution of the highest number of food packets across South Punjab districts during the flood crisis, demonstrating PBM’s swift and effective local response.
The Committee also praised PBM’s contributions in healthcare and education, particularly its support for cancer patients and university students.
Impressed by PBM’s exceptional performance, the Standing Committee recommended an increase in PBM’s budget and directed MD Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt to submit a detailed proposal to further strengthen assistance for vulnerable communities.
Senator Butt expressed gratitude to the Committee and reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a transparent, equitable system that ensures maximum aid reaches Pakistan’s needy population.
