ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (APP):The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with bearish trend on Friday, losing 1,286.28 points, a negative change of 0.78 percent, closing at 163,304.13 points against 164,590.41 points on the previous trading day.
A total of 478 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 136 recorded gains, 300 sustained losses, and 42 remained unchanged.
The total trading volume in the ready market was 1,041.17 million shares compared to 1,504.58 million shares on Thursday, while the traded value declined to Rs35.02 billion from Rs49.52 billion. The market capitalization also fell to Rs18.81 trillion from Rs18.99 trillion.
K-Electric Limited led the volume chart with 194.90 million shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom with 97.55 million shares and Ist. Capital Sec. with 78.09 million shares.
Among the top gainers were Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited, which increased by Rs62.49 to close at Rs1,614.13, and Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited, which gained Rs50.82 to close at Rs9,731.73.
The major losers were PIA Holding Company LimitedB, which decreased by Rs786.69 to close at Rs24,213.41, and Unilever Pakistan Foods Ltd., which declined by Rs196.50 to close at Rs29,691.76.
In the futures market, 312 companies participated, with 53 advancing, 257 declining, and two remaining unchanged.
K-Electric (OCT) led the futures trading with 38.25 million shares, followed by Bank of Punjab (OCTB) with 27.39 million shares and WorldCall Telecom (OCT) with 17.08 million shares.
