HYDERABAD, Oct 24 (APP):Commissioner Shahmeer Khan Bhutto directed Health and Education Departments to launch awareness campaigns on Dengue and Malaria prevention.
These directions were extended by commissioner in a high-level meeting on dengue and malaria prevention, held at Darbar Hall and chaired by Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division, Shahmeer Khan Bhutto.
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner said that the recent rise in dengue cases across Sindh is alarming. He emphasized that adherence to preventive measures can effectively protect the public from diseases like dengue and malaria.
He directed Health and Education Departments to organize awareness sessions in communities and educational institutions. Commissioner instructed education officials to ensure that all school headmasters brief students during morning assemblies about dengue prevention measures and to encourage students to spread awareness within their homes and neighborhoods.
Commissioner Bhutto also directed Deputy Commissioners of Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, and Naushahro Feroze districts to organize awareness sessions in collaboration with relevant departments and civil society to educate public about dengue and malaria prevention.
Director Local Government was instructed to immediately launch anti-mosquito spray campaigns across all three districts, ensuring that municipal, town, and union council secretaries carry out the spraying effectively to eliminate mosquitoes and safeguard citizens.
Apart that Commissioner also directed Malaria Control Program Incharges to initiate large-scale awareness drives, displaying banners and distributing pamphlets about preventive measures at public places, schools, and hospitals. He also suggested sharing awareness videos and messages on social media to maximize outreach.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Samad Nizamani, Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Sarah Javed, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Naushahro Feroze Saddam Hussain Memon briefed Commissioner on the ongoing efforts to curb dengue and malaria. Education department officials assured Commissioner that awareness sessions in schools would be conducted promptly.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioners Muhammad Ibrahim Almani and Syed Ammar Hussain, Director Schools Shaheed Benazirabad Naseer Jogee, Director Private Schools Shehnaz Lakho, District Education Officers Humaira Mir, Muhammad Aslam, Ghulam Mustafa Laghari, Masood Ahmed Sahito, Taj Muhammad Dahri, officers from Public Health, Local Government, PPHI, Health Department and all Taluka Education Officials.
