KHANEWAL, Oct 24 (APP):At least eight passengers sustained injuries when two high-speed buses collided with a stationary trailer near Total Petrol Pump on the Lodhran–Khanewal Super Highway on Friday.
The buses were traveling from Bahawalpur towards Sahiwal and Lahore when the accident occurred due to reckless driving.
According to eyewitnesses, the buses were overtaking each other at high speed when they rammed into a trailer parked along the road. The impact of the collision was so severe that its sound was heard from a distance, causing panic in the area.
Following the incident, Rescue 1122, police, and traffic officials rushed to the site, along with Assistant Commissioner Jahanian Zohaib Shafi and DSP Malik Abdul Majeed. Rescue 1122 teams provided on-site medical assistance to the injured, transferring six of them to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Jahanian, while two others were treated at the scene and discharged.
The collision caused significant damage to both buses; however, no fatalities were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident and urged drivers to avoid speeding on highways to prevent such incidents.
