KARACHI, Oct 24 (APP):Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab Friday, in his message on the occasion of World Polio Day, said that polio is an incurable disease, and protection from it is only possible through vaccination.
He urged citizens not to believe in false assumptions and negative propaganda, as doing so could endanger their children’s future.
The Mayor Karachi said that the eradication of the polio virus is only possible when every member of society fulfills their responsibility.
He emphasized that public cooperation is essential for eliminating polio, and administering polio drops to children is a collective responsibility of all. “Making Karachi a polio-free city is our firm commitment, and all relevant institutions are working together to achieve this goal,” he added.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that the fight against polio is a humanitarian and national duty in which no one should remain behind. He further said that the Sindh Government and the Health Department teams are playing an active role in the anti-polio campaign.
He termed polio workers as national heroes who go door to door, working tirelessly to secure the future of children. Mayor Karachi appealed to parents to fully cooperate with polio workers so that every child can receive the vaccine.
The Mayor Karachi said that raising public awareness about the eradication of this crippling disease is the need of the hour. Citizens should actively participate in the anti-polio campaign and play their part in protecting not only their own children but the entire community from this dangerous virus. “A polio-free Pakistan is the foundation of a healthy and strong nation,” he concluded.
