ICT Police foil 1.3 mln ghee heist; suspect in handcuffs

ISLAMABAD, Oct 23 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police’s Khanna team, under the supervision of Station House Officer (SHO) Aamir Hayat, carried out a swift and successful operation arresting a key suspect involved in the snatching of ghee cartons worth over Rs1.3 million from a trader near Burma Pull, Islamabad.

An official told APP on Thursday that a citizen, Akhtar Ali Shah, a trader from Lakki Marwat, reported that he had brought 700 cartons of ghee valued at Rs4.3 million to Islamabad for delivery. While waiting near Khanna Pul for payment, an unidentified man approached him, claiming to represent the buyer. The man misled and took him to Burma Pull, where he and his accomplices offloaded 206 cartons of ghee worth Rs1.3 million into Suzuki vans and fled after threatening him.
Upon receiving the complaint, SHO Khanna Aamir Hayat promptly registered FIR No 1762/25 under Section 382 PPC and launched an investigation.
Acting swiftly, ASI Muhammad Afzal and his team traced and arrested the main suspect, recovering a large amount of cash linked to the stolen goods. Further recoveries are expected as the investigation continues.
SHO Aamir Hayat told APP that more arrests will follow and assured that the remaining culprits will soon be behind bars. “The protection of citizens’ lives and property is the foremost priority of Islamabad Police,” he said.
DIG operations Muhammad Jawad Tariq and IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi appreciated the timely and effective action of Khanna Police, commending the team for their professionalism and dedication to justice.
