BEIJING, Oct 23 (APP): The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretary General, Nurlan Yermekbayev on Thursday said that as one of the founding member countries of the SCO, Kyrgyzstan has made important contributions to the development of the SCO over the years.
Kyrgyzstan have always advocated strengthening mutual trust, open dialogue and establishing an equal partnership, he said during a media briefing held at SCO Secretariat here.
He believed that during the presidency of Kyrgyzstan, the political mutual trust among member countries will further deepen and inject new impetus into promoting economic and trade cooperation, transportation and energy interconnection, cultural and youth exchanges, and jointly promoting the implementation of environmental protection initiatives.
He said that Kyrgyzstan can make important contributions to strengthening the cohesion of the SCO, improving efficiency, implementing pragmatic projects and expanding international cooperation.
The above directions are in line with the strategic interests of our countries and the actual needs of the region. Today, the respected Ambassador Musayeva will introduce to you the priority direction of Kyrgyzstan as chairman of the SCO.
He wished Kyrgyzstan a smooth and fruitful result in its presidency, adding, “May all our countries unite, uphold the “Shanghai Spirit”, and move forward with full vitality and firm determination.
The Secretary General also asked the media to report more actively and widely on the work of the Kyrgyz presidency and the activities of the SCO, publicize the values of the SCO, and jointly maintain regional and even world peace, security and stability.
