MULTAN, Oct 23 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its operations in Lodhran to ensure the provision of safe and high-quality food to the public and imposed over 2,71,000 fine on 32 food points over hygiene violations.
In a recent inspection drive, PFA’s food safety teams checked a total of 446 food points across the district.
According to official sources, 240 outlets were issued warning notices for minor hygiene violations, while 32 food businesses were fined Rs. 271,000 for serious breaches of food safety standards. The teams also discarded 50 kilograms of prohibited and expired food items, including open spices, unhygienic ingredients, and substandard beverages.
The inspection teams reported poor hygiene in production and kitchen areas, infestation of insects, and the storage of food in contaminated freezers. Several establishments were found selling beverages made with inferior ingredients and adulterated materials.
Director General PFA, Muhammad Asim Javed, stated that the authority’s mission is to ensure that citizens have access to pure and safe food.
Strict action would be taken against those who violate the food safety laws.
