LAHORE, Oct 23 (APP):The Punjab government has decided to launch a strict crackdown across the province against illegal LPG cylinders installed in vehicles in view of the safety of citizens’ lives and property.
Punjab Transport Department official sources said that in this connection, Secretary Punjab Provincial Transport Authority Hassan Ahsan has already approved SOPs for the action. He said that a vehicle with an illegal LPG cylinder will be declared unsafe and “unfit”.
Furthermore, it has also been ordered to challan the vehicle and seize it on the spot, fitness certificate, route permit and registration will not be renewed without removing the cylinder.
In case of violation, the vehicle can also be closed under the Provincial Motor Vehicle Ordinance, substandard and illegal cylinder will be confiscated.
Multiple challans have been banned, one challan will be issued on a vehicle in a single day, heavy fines and action will be taken for reusing cylinders.
An order has been issued to submit immediate and daily reports against illegal cylinders. Departmental action will be taken against the concerned officials for negligence.
