DC orders swift action to curb dengue in hotspot areas

KOHAT, Oct 23 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Kohat Rahimullah Mehsud on Thursday chaired an important meeting at his office to review and intensify measures for the prevention and control of dengue in the district.
Senior officials from the district administration, Health Department, and other relevant agencies attended the meeting.
The participants were briefed in detail on the current dengue situation and trends compared to previous years.
Reports indicated that a total of 535 dengue cases have been recorded in the district this year, including 423 local cases. The breakdown by tehsil shows 245 cases in Kohat, 151 in Lachi, 16 in Gumbat, and 11 in Darra Adam Khel.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to formulate a comprehensive and coordinated action plan to prevent further spread of the disease.
He emphasized the need for intensified joint efforts to completely eliminate dengue from the district.
Health authorities were instructed to enhance daily fumigation, fogging, and surveillance activities in hotspot areas, while awareness campaigns are to be conducted in mosques, schools, and local communities to educate the public about preventive measures.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, DC Rahimullah Mehsud said that the district administration is utilizing all available resources to combat dengue, warning that any negligence would not be tolerated.
Departments were also directed to ensure proper sanitation, drainage, and elimination of stagnant water, key breeding sites for dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
It was further decided that daily monitoring reports will be compiled and rapid response teams will remain active in hotspot areas.
Citizens were urged to keep their surroundings clean, cover water containers, and use mosquito repellents or nets to protect themselves from the virus.
