Mayor Sukkur & Spokesperson for Sindh Government meet President & CM

SUKKUR, Oct 22 (APP):Mayor Sukkur and Spokesperson for the Sindh Government, Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh, along with Member of National Assembly (MNA), Nauman Islam Sheikh, met with President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah at Bilawal House.
According to handout issued here on Wednesday, during the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on ongoing and proposed development projects related to infrastructure in Sukkur.
Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh informed the President about the mega development plan for Sukkur, which aims to transform the city into a modern, sustainable, and internationally standard metropolis through public-private partnerships and Asian Development Bank (ADB) funding.
The key highlights of the project including upgradation of drainage and sewage systems for better rainwater disposal, Provision of clean water through an upgraded water supply and management system, Traffic management and mass transit projects, including new roads, underpasses, and modern public transport, Climate resilience and tree plantation drives for a greener Sukkur, Renewable energy initiatives, including solar power, Promotion of electric vehicles with charging stations and modern facilities and other ongoing projects.
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the initiatives for Sukkur’s development, stating that “Sukkur, being the third-largest city of Sindh, holds significant importance for the province’s overall progress.” He added that such comprehensive projects reflect the visionary leadership of the Sindh government.
MNA Nauman Islam Sheikh said that under the patronage of the President and Chief Minister, Sukkur is entering a new era of development and prosperity. The President directed the Chief Minister to expedite the project’s pace and ensure the use of modern technology to improve civic amenities.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah assured that the Sindh government prioritizes Sukkur’s development and will provide all necessary financial and administrative support. Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh said that the project will not only improve the quality of life for Sukkur’s citizens but also set a new benchmark for environmental sustainability and modern urban development.
