ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad conducted a successful operation and arrested an official of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) over corruption and fraud charges.
An official told APP on Wednesday that the accused, identified as Sajid Mahmood, was wanted in a case registered under the Anti-Corruption Act in 2024. He, along with his accomplices, fraudulently manipulated the land compensation process in Mauza Thalla Syedan (G-14/3), Islamabad.
He said, FGEHA had acquired the said land in 2005 to compensate the original affectees. However, the accused, in collusion with others, prepared a fake report and ensured that compensation was paid to fake owners instead of genuine ones.
The fraudulent activity deprived the actual affectees of Rs 7.78 million, while approximately Rs 6.5 million were illegally disbursed to fake owners, causing significant loss to the national exchequer.
The accused misused his official authority to commit financial corruption and fraud. FIA arrested the suspect and initiated further investigation, while raids are underway to apprehend other accomplices involved in the scam, the spokesperson added.
