Governor for using power of social media to promote reading books

QUETTA, Oct 21 (APP):Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Tuesday said that by managing time wisely in daily life, we could also use the power of social media to promote the trend of reading books.
He expressed these views while talking to Arshia Khan Bareach, a young writer of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, at the Governor House, Quetta.
Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Noshirwani, Senator Saeed-ul-Hassan Mandokhel, Member Provincial Assembly Zarq Khan Mandokhel, National Party Central Leader Dr. Ishaq Baloch and Abdul Salam Bareach were also present during the meeting.
The Governr said that it is a bitter truth that nowadays the habit of reading books and the tendency to study are being dominated by the color of social media among the youth, which is causing a lack of their creativity and passion for research.
He said that it is important that we instill a taste for reading in the new generation because books give new light to the minds, encourage them to challenge myths and superstitions and provide intellectual guidance in changing our lives.
It is truly commendable that Arshia Khan Bareach, a student studying at Women’s University, has become the author of an English book at such a young age, he said and added that it is a fact that encouraging students brings out their hidden talents.
He said that our own attention is a valuable resource that could be used to acquire knowledge and wisdom on a daily basis.
Governor Mandokhel said that there is a need to highlight the trend of passive reading and the complexities of reading habits in a new way, it is also a fact that social media has increased the trend of reading immensely.
More people than ever are reading books and other new sources and accessing written and visual content available online, he said adding that although new formats like e-books and audio-books have increased accessibility, people’s attention spans and reading preferences have changed.
Finally, author Arshia Khan presented her English book to Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel.
