PESHAWAR, Oct 21 (APP):A truck loaded with precious stones was looted by armed robbers on Ring Road here, police informed on Tuesday.
According to details, armed men intercepted the truck within the jurisdiction of the Pishtakhara Police Station. The truck was carrying valuable stones belonging to various traders and was enroute from Afghanistan to Peshawar.
The robbers reportedly stopped the vehicle on the Ring Road, held the driver and his assistant hostage, and snatched their cash and mobile phones. After looting the truck, the culprits abandoned the two captives in a deserted area and fled with the vehicle.
A case has been registered against unidentified suspects and police say multiple teams have been formed to track down the culprits and recover the stolen goods.
Police termed the incident an organized robbery and assured that efforts are underway to arrest those involved.
