ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday visited the residence of Grand Mufti of Pakistan, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, and held an extensive meeting with prominent Sunni scholars under his leadership.
Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also accompanied the interior minister during the visit.
According to official sources, the meeting discussed in detail the recent developments in the country and other issues concerning religious scholars. The ulema presented their views on various matters and conveyed their concerns to the minister.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi listened attentively to the scholars’ stance and assured them that all genuine issues would be resolved on a priority basis. Both sides agreed to hold a detailed follow-up meeting in Islamabad soon.
Minister Naqvi emphasized that the government would not interfere in the affairs of mosques and madrasas. He further announced the appointment of a focal person to maintain continuous communication between the government and the scholars.
The religious scholars who attended the meeting included Allama Syed Muzaffar Shah, Mufti Abid Mubarak, Allama Liaqat Hussain Azhari, Allama Rehan Azhar Naumani, Mufti Rafiur Rehman Noorani, Allama Ashraf Gormani, and Allama Ahmed Rabbani.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to strengthen coordination and ensure that all legitimate concerns of the religious community are addressed through dialogue and cooperation.
