MULTAN, Oct 21 (APP):The Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) has introduced a new digital system for issuing stamp papers, aimed at preventing property fraud and promoting transparency in legal and property transactions.
According to PLRA sources, stamp papers will now only be issued through a verified mobile SIM registered in the applicant’s name. After submitting an application, the applicant will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on their registered mobile number. This OTP must be provided to the stamp vendor for identity verification. Only after successful OTP verification will the stamp paper be issued.
This new system ensures that stamp papers cannot be obtained using someone else’s identity. Previously, stamp papers could be purchased using any person’s CNIC, which enabled fraudulent property transfers and forged agreements. Under the updated system, only the individual with a SIM registered in their name will be eligible to acquire the stamp paper—otherwise, the application will be rejected.
PLRA officials stated that this digital reform will improve service delivery, enhance transparency in government processes, simplify legal procedures, and significantly reduce the risk of forgery and fraud in property-related transactions.
