DG KHAN, Oct 21 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) claimed to have foiled a major attempt to supply dead meat and adulterated milk in the Dera Ghazi Khan Division through two successful operations.
In the first operation, conducted in Bihari Colony Block 51, Dera Ghazi Khan, the Food Safety Team intercepted a rickshaw following surveillance and discovered it was transporting the meat of a dead cow. A veterinary doctor on site confirmed the meat was extremely hazardous to human health. The meat was reportedly being supplied to local butchers. The rickshaw driver was arrested on the spot, and a case has been registered against him.
In a separate raid in Karor Lal Esan, Layyah, PFA officials targeted a milk collection center found to be distributing substandard and low-nutrition milk. Authorities seized and discarded 1,350 liters of adulterated milk and 500 kilograms of unsafe meat during the combined operations.
FIRs have been registered against the rickshaw driver and the owners of the milk center. Several arrests were made at both locations.
