ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):In a major step toward driving innovation-led growth in Pakistan’s engineering and industrial sectors, the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), in collaboration with the National Productivity Organization (NPO), organized a two-day international capacity-building workshop on “Fostering Innovation Capabilities (ISO 56000 Innovation Management System and Standards)” at PEC Headquarters.
The workshop, facilitated by globally renowned innovation experts Dr. Eva Diedrichs and Mr. Claus Diedrichs, equipped participants with the latest tools and global best practices for establishing and managing innovation systems aligned with the ISO 56000 family of standards.
The sessions explored key areas such as innovation governance, portfolio and pipeline management, opportunity workflows, performance metrics, and integration with digital transformation and Industry 4.0.
To encourage participation, PEC subsidized the training cost (Rs. 20,000 per participant), allowing registered engineers to attend free of charge. Despite limited preparation time, the program attracted strong participation from professionals representing industry, academia, and the public sector. Participants were awarded joint PEC–NPO certificates upon successful completion.
PEC Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir, while distributing certificates, highlighted that fostering a culture of innovation is vital to enhancing Pakistan’s global competitiveness.
He reaffirmed PEC’s commitment to aligning national engineering standards with international benchmarks, saying that collaborations like this bridge the gap between innovation theory and practical implementation.
A PEC spokesperson lauded the partnership, emphasizing that the initiative “translates ISO 56000 principles into actionable, results-oriented frameworks for Pakistani organizations,” and appreciated the NPO and APO’s Technical Expert Services for their support in realizing this impactful initiative.
