PESHAWAR, Oct 20 (APP):An important consultative meeting was held in the chamber of the leader of the house at the assembly secretariat among Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi, leader of the opposition Dr. Ibadullah, and speaker Babar Saleem Swati regarding the province’s law and order situation.
During the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on the overall law and order in the province, incidents of terrorism, and matters concerning public safety.
It was agreed on this occasion that the already established law and order committee of the provincial assembly would be made more effective, so that decisions regarding security matters across all districts of the province could be taken through effective and mutual consultation.
The committee includes members from both the government and the opposition, and is chaired by the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati.
It was decided that the newly elected Chief Minister, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, would also be included in the committee to further strengthen the representation of the provincial government.
Committee members will include the leader of the opposition, provincial ministers, advisors, and representatives from districts affected by terrorism. Security agencies will also regularly brief the committee on the law and order situation.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati said that the biggest challenge facing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is law and order, and to address this, all political forces must unite and take steps in the public interest.
