ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP): Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, reiterated that every citizen of Pakistan enjoys dignity and respect regardless of their faith, extending greetings to the Hindu community on the occasion of Diwali, both nationally and internationally.
Speaking at a Diwali celebration held at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday, the minister expressed special gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending the event.
“The Prime Minister’s participation sends a powerful message to the world that minorities are an integral part of Pakistan,” he said.
Addressing attendees, Sardar Yousuf described Diwali as a symbol of peace and unity, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to fostering harmony among its diverse communities.
“We are united and will not allow hatred to take root in our country,” he asserted.
Highlighting the significance of the official celebration of Diwali, the minister noted, “I am pleased that we have been officially celebrating Diwali for years.”
Citing verses from the Quran, Sardar Yousuf emphasized that all humans are equal with equal rights.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs, he said, looks after the rights of minorities in Pakistan and celebrates their religious events with enthusiasm, in line with the directives of the prime minister.
