ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP):Minister for Economic Affairs and Establishment Division, Ahad Cheema on Monday said that Pakistan was committed to enhance regional connectivity through both rail and road networks in order to promote and develop trade and business with regional countries.
The minister chaired a high-level meeting, which focused on strategies to enhance regional trade through improved connectivity, with a particular emphasis on boosting the capacity of regional trade corridors, said a press release issued the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
He expressed optimism that important memorandums of understanding would be signed at the upcoming Regional Connectivity Conference, which would serve as milestones for regional connectivity and economic integration.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Regional Connectivity Conference, which will be held here during current week. Officials from relevant ministries provided detailed briefings to the participants on regional connectivity initiatives, outlining measures to strengthen trade corridors and improve infrastructure for regional trade.
Additionally, officials from relevant ministries presented a report to the federal ministers on the preparations for the Regional Connectivity Conference. Representatives from nearly 10 countries, including Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Belarus, and others, will participate in this conference.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr Tauqeer Shah, Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and senior officials from relevant ministries.
