PESHAWAR, Oct 20 (APP):Authorities concerned have launched a fresh investigation into Afghan nationals who allegedly obtained Pakistani identity cards and passports through illegal means.
According to official sources on Monday the crackdown has begun across the country, particularly in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Swat, Mohmand, Bajaur, Khyber, Nowshera, Charsadda and Dera Ismail Khan.
Investigations are being conducted based on family trees to identify those who fraudulently acquired Pakistani citizenship documents.
Government officials have declared such individuals a serious threat to national security and have decided to proceed with their deportation. In Peshawar, police working in coordination with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have initiated secret inquiries into those suspected of possessing fake or duplicate identity cards, including individuals currently residing abroad.
Several arrests have already been made during the ongoing operations. Among those detained are individuals accused of facilitating the issuance of fake documents, as well as some who had previously made allegations against law enforcement.
As a result of these investigations, multiple Afghan nationals have had their ID cards blocked and authorities are continuing efforts to identify and prosecute the facilitators involved in the fraud.
