Awareness walk marks World Statistics Day in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, Oct 20 (APP):An awareness walk was organised from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to Kachehri Chowk on Monday to mark the World Statistics Day, under the auspices of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) Regional Office Rawalpindi.
Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Dr Hasan Waqar Cheema led the walk, which was attended by Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Ayesha Shafqat, Divisional Coordinator Muhammad Waseem, District Coordinator PBS Naeem Hussain, and other officers and staff members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Waqar Cheema said that statistics played a vital role in national planning, policymaking, and sustainable development. He added that accurate, timely, and transparent data were essential for evidence-based decision-making.
“Statistics are not merely numbers; they shape the nation’s path towards progress and good governance,” the deputy commissioner remarked.
He further said that the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in line with the global theme ‘Better Data for Better Lives’, continued to provide quality information based on transparency and trust.
Dr Waqar Cheema emphasised that data-driven decision-making was the cornerstone of good governance, accountability, and national development.
