Awareness walk held to mark World Statistics Day

SARGODHA, Oct 20 (APP):The Regional Office of the Bureau of Statistics, Sargodha, organized an awareness walk on Monday in connection with World Statistics Day, aimed at highlighting the vital role of data in governance and development.
The walk began at the Regional Office and concluded at Qainchi Mor Chowk, drawing participation from a wide range of stakeholders. Chief Officer Statistics Dr. Mazhar Hussain led the event, which included District Coordinator Statistics Muhammad Ashfaq, officers and staff of the Bureau, representatives from civil society, and officials from various departments.
Participants carried messages and engaged in discussions to raise public awareness about the importance of accurate, transparent, and timely data in policy formulation, evidence-based decision-making, and developmental planning.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mazhar Hussain emphasized that reliable data is a cornerstone of good governance, enabling governments and institutions to track progress, identify challenges, and design effective solutions. He added that World Statistics Day serves as a powerful reminder that fact-based policies are essential for achieving sustainable development goals.
The event underscored the commitment of the Bureau of Statistics to promoting data literacy and supporting the development of a statistically aware society.
